Epilepsy

Epilepsy is a group of seizure disorders arising from abnormal and excessive brain activity. Seizure manifestations vary from barely perceptible and lasting a few seconds to forms with a prolonged disturbance of consciousness and convulsions of the whole body.

The advisory centre available is every Tuesday from 12:00 to 15:00 and every Wednesday from 12:00 to 15:00 in the outpatient EEG. It is used for the diagnosis, dispensarization and treatment of patients with epilepsy.

A referral from a general practitioner with complete documentation, an excerpt from it or a statement from a neurologist if the patient has visited one is required.

The advisory centre is linked to specialized epileptological centers, mainly in Prague (Na Francis, Motol and Homolka Hospitals).
